Adolf Hitler is said to have invented the first inflatable 100cm sexdocka.
In late July 2020, a reader shared a blog post from 2016 with the headline “Did Adolf Hitler really invent the Dutchwife?”. The post prompted many curious readers to ask whether the leader of the German Nazi Party actually invented inflatable real dolls, even though the article itself doesn’t actually mention it.
This article was posted on a website called The 13th Floor, a horror genre blog that focuses on stories that are inherently creepy and spooky. The post on The 13th Floor reads, “The Borghild Project was a top-secret attempt to stop the spread of syphilis by (supposedly) providing inflatable Dutch wives to Nazi soldiers. Ja, Hitler invented the blow-up doll!”

One author also sent an email to the museum documenting the history of medicine asking about the hoax but has yet to receive a response. We will update this article when we have an update.
Laurie Maher, an associate professor of history at the University of Washington, said in an email that the scam is built around “the very real concerns [Heinrich] Himmler expressed about German men, especially soldiers and SS men, being able to express heterosexuality. Sex drives, and regulated brothel and other syphilis prevention measures taken by the Nazi state. Many governments of the time did similar things. But the sexdocka is a hoax.”
Elizabeth Heineman, a history professor at the University of Iowa and author of the book “Before Pornography Became Legal,” said there is no evidence that inflatable Dutch wives were available during World War II.
